Just wild to think that Lee Atwater felt the need to apologize for the racism of the Willie Horton ad, back on his deathbed in 1991. Compared to tweets like this, the Horton ad isn’t just subtle and sophisticated, it’s almost color-blind.

Atwater was trolling all the way to his deathbed. I forget which two republican operatives it was who said they found the bible he claimed to have been reading in his apology and it was still shrink-wrapped or whatever.
