The "need for chaos" they discuss is fascinating because it's an idea I played around with in my stand up back around Y2K, and still work the edges of -- enthusiasm for apocalyptic fiction and prepper culture is a desperate craving for change.
And that craving for change comes because we have built an inhuman, alienated world. And we're not stopping any time in the future, apparently.
"death-drive politics" as the urge to hurry up through something or "just get it over with." It's I think an interesting antithetical to, i.e., Buddhist "mindfulness" or present-mindedness.
