Corollary — we desperately need a “this is what you do when the bad times come” compendium in easy WW II propaganda instructional form. Water systems, medical triage, etc.
Fun fact: also on this street is a little free food pantry that sometimes has cans or clothes or other such things in it, a community garden, and occasionally a charity drag show.
Help is something they want to privatize and sell to those who can afford it. Under capitalism even help is a niche to be exploited, an avenue for wealth extraction.
I love Asheville. It’s given me a great friend, great memories and it’s filled with great people. If there’s any community that will make sure *everyone* recovers, it’s Asheville.
