Did you know the water lily (Nymphaea odorata and other species) is protogynous? What does that even mean? The flower is open for 3 days. Day 1 is "female" (pollen receptive). Day 2 is "male" and provides pollen. So cool! #MacrophyteMonday 📷Zhang et al 2021

Illustration of protogyny in the water lily (Nymphaea). Day 1 shows stigmas exposed to accept pollen. Day 2 shows anthers closed over stigma, providing pollen flor other flowers.

Liddy has little patience for any of your human silliness.

Up close shot of a tiger and white housecat looking very serious.

Funny how that works. :) I joined last month and am already seeing my feed get better and better. There's junk (and junk accounts/followers) for sure, but it's great to see folks that I'd been missing from X, as well as cool new (to me) accounts. So far, so good!

Also, all of our current monitoring protocols require access to a boat, to either sample in the deepest part of the lake or travel around the lake's perimeter. Let's think about examples of meaningful lake data that could be collected from shore (say, at a park or boat landing). E. coli? Algae?
