I had the great good fortune of going to a lecture of his when I was in college (late '70s). I wish I could remember specifics, but I do remember being moved greatly.

Strange you should mention that. We just got back from about our fifth trip out there in the last few days! No whales for us, unfortunately, but one heck of a sunset about half an hour ago.
