Voter initiatives are bad. I voted "no" on 'em all when I lived there.

My first presidential election, I voted on whether farm animals should roam freely. Dumb. Really dumb. Currently writing a paper with a grad student on health policymaking through this mechanism, but yeah, I tend to share your disdain for the process.
