the institutional democratic party has cared more about managing and disciplining their base than winning elections ever since the parties realigned from regional interest groups to ideological units and they got stuck with poor people and minorities instead of the rich whites they wanted
Reagan really fucked up the geriatrics who are somehow still running the party 40 years later
It pains me to bring this up again but Sarah Palin was 100% correct (for all the wrong reasons, of course) when she asked, “How’s the hopey changey working out for you?” I can’t think of a more damning Obama indictment than that.
I’ll never forget the alacrity with which the Dem party turned on ACORN without even bothering to investigate that doctored O’Keefe video. They were thrilled at the idea of not being accountable to poor people
Thank you. Been trying to make this point; this is a better articulation of it than I’ve managed (absolutely no claims to originality on my end of course)
It really does feel like the Democratic party has been scrambling to try to get rid of all the poor and marginalized people that vote for them. Both parties really do want no one who isn't rich, and ideally white & cishet to have absolutely any voice whatsoever.
