I don't really understand why people think that being on the internet obligates you to listen to a stream of personal abuse every once in a while? no one would argue you're not allowed to walk away from unpleasant people in real life, but for some reason online...
There's also the world of difference between discussions with interesting and thoughtful people who you disagree with on some topics, and accommodating vile abuse from racists. It feels like it says something that there are so many people, especially on the right, who think they're the same thing.
