Someone at a fringe just said St Albans hasn't had a local plan since 1994. York hadn't had one since... 1954. there were gasps
I'm sure there are reasons (practical, political & economic) why this hasn't happened but I really do like the idea of front loading the planning process so that the local plan process forced people (lay, politicians & professionals to pay more attention to it.
Don't let St Albans City and District Council read that or they'll never finish this Local Plan!
Yes, but the St Alban's Local Plan is being updated right now... Meanwhile City of York had a final approved (but unadopted) draft in 2005 but the new one has spent 6 years in limbo!
