If they'd started building it at the northern end is it true to say they'd have got more completed and kept the costs from spiralling because they hadn't had to deal with the Tory NIMBYs in the Shires insisting on tunnels? Anyway, they need to complete it.

We shouldn't have built HS2 in the first place. There were better alternatives. But I do agree that we are where we are, and the line should serve central London and go north of Birmingham archive.progressivebritain.org/2012/04/27/h...
