#StarTrekProdigy Season 2 was magnificent. But my lowkey favourite part of it was them ditching the new Dauntless ship in favour of the Voyager-A. The original Dauntless from Voyager was sleek and intimidating, like an ocean predator. The Prodigy version was just… lopsided and weird looking.

Front, side and top views of the USS Dauntless from the Voyager episode “Hope and Fear”. From the top it’s got a sort of arrowhead shape, while from the side the entire top hull is one long gentle curve
Profile, bottom and side views of the new Dauntless from Prodigy. The arrowhead shape remains, but on the side view the elegant curve is interrupted halfway through. The best comparison I can think of is it feels like a shoe or a slipper that covers the toes but leaves the ankles completely exposed.
The original Dauntless, showing in profile view from behind highlighting the sleek continuous curved hull. It feels like a futuristic sports car just waiting to jet off at high speed.
Profile shot from behind of the new Dauntless. With the large section of the rear top hull removed, you just have this awkward long spine of a secondary hull supporting the nacelles.
