Twitter is lost. There's no reclaiming it until Elon goes away. Don't waste your energy on that. Build something new that doesn't line Nazi pockets. Spend that energy convincing others that they should do the same.

You should not even talk about it in terms of "reclaiming." Twitter must die. PERIOD.

I would go so far as to say that even if Elon goes away, the site is forever ruined. There's a point at which you cannot repair or restore. The only thing to do would be to raze it completely.

Musk is not going away. He is waiting for the banks to mark the debt down to nearly zero to remove a $100 mm/mo expense.

It really is incredible how useless Twitter is these days.

I have so many artist friends that have opened an account here and just stopped posting here like 5 months ago. Meanwhile they are still active on Twitter.

I’m happy to say I’ve never had strong ties to Twitter even pre-Musk (just a rando anon account for… reasons 👀🍑). Happy to say I’ll continue that, and probably delete it all at this point. Jesus Christ is it starting to piss me off.

I think the only reclamation path at this point involves deleting all accounts & starting over. Should have a big 'condemned' sticker on it: structurally unsound & infested with black mold & cockroaches. Unsalvageable.

Yesterday Hank Green posted a YT video about how he's sort of making a stand on Twitter & that the community shapes it, not the legal owner, & it all felt very sad to watch. Musk DOES shape it, the bar's owner sold it to a Nazi to retire and it's a Nazi bar now even if Hank's table is still 'good'.
