Political scientists know how to measure the quality of democracies. Unquestionably, 'Accepting election loss' is more fundamental to the quality of a state than civil liberties, which have nuances and conditions. Also punishing the insurrectionists isn't censorship. It's law enforcement.
Transit can't be some test of what a serious city person you are if we want to get serious about climate. I hate people on the left who act like being jaded and willing to put up with a level of grim makes them better instead of just gatekeepers

You can have very little enforcement of social rules on public transit OR you can stop climate change but you can't do either. If transit is only for people with no other choice you will never hit CO2 targets. People feel safe in their cars (often mistakenly) but people choose safety
