I found the end of the first reading from Morning Prayer today particularly poignant in the light of the news (2 Kings 6.1-23). And the canticle refrain - ‘Spirit of God, teach us your ways, that we may walk in the paths of peace.’ #MorningPrayer

Am I just being old-fashioned, or was Zainab rather rude to Ben? Faults on both sides, but she sounded particularly self-righteous and brusque in their first encounter.

Eddie’s moral code is about family loyalty above everything. He sees justice as one law for the rich and one for the poor - and to be fair, it often is. But his obstinate refusal to accept a possible alternative narrative is frustrating, and very unhelpful to George’s possible rehabilitation.

I think it will take time, and probably skilled help, for Emma to understand fully what she’s done, let alone find a way to make any kind of amends. In the meantime her own suffering is real (however much we can see how she got here).

The inside of her head must be a pretty awful place at the moment.

I don’t think it was anything specific in the episode. I suspect that the reality of the consequences of George’s actions and her own decisions is becoming clearer. She’s now really seeing the bed she’s made and has to lie on, so to speak.
