"After a 45 minute Zoom hearing Thursday, Gamble ruled that Cox should be allowed to terminate the pregnancy, and that Dr. Damla Karsan, a Houston OB/GYN, should be protected from civil and criminal penalties if she performs the procedure."
NEW: A Travis County, Texas, district judge has granted a temporary restraining order allowing Kate Cox, a pregnant Dallas woman whose fetus has a lethal abnormality, to have an abortion.
Cox, 31, at 20 weeks pregnant, has learned her fetus has a lethal abnormality that is almost always fatal at birth.
I’ve seen the news recently, this can’t be possible. It looks like…sanity?
It's fucking nuts that this decision is in the hands of a randomly-selected judge who could think all abortion is murder.
THIS IS SUCH BULLSHIT. Losing a wanted child is so hard and the Republicans are now forcing women to go to court to get the care they need? I am so fucking angry at this BS.
Hallelujah!
The Texas AG says everyone can still be sued under their $10k bounty law. I guess that includes the judge now. I'm starting to think Texas sucks.
What a country we got here.
I wish this is the procedure all R have to endure should they wish to get any medical procedure done. In perpetuity. This isn't wishing harm on someone. It's wishing equal justice in the eyes of the goddamn law.
Dr Karsan is a hero. She is the people we need in times like this.
great news but absolutely absurd that a judge has to be the one to make the decision here and it isn’t just between her and her doctor
Obviously good news for the woman but very disturbing that it has to go this far, and I wonder if Republicans will go after the judge, doctor, and woman anyway.
