Last night, spouse and I randomly watched two documentaries about queers from 1977: GAY USA and WORD IS OUT They’re both on Criterion Channel and I cannot recommend them enough, especially the second one I cried many times and felt so proud to be queer/trans We are all we’ve got 💜🌈🏳️‍⚧️

WORD IS OUT introduced me to lesbian actor/playwright Pat Bond, whose stories of being gay in the military circa 1944-45 were hilarious, sexy, and ultimately deeply troubling If you’ve got a spare 30 mins, listen to her tell her story at a live event a few years after:
