Just read very quickly. Brilliant paper, very stimulating. I now wonder, though, whether popular opposition assumes, more strongly, that the family is ‘the subject of possession’. Do your arguments apply to spouses? Some people even think they are deserving on the basis of parents’ achievements.

Oh, I had not thought that people could think the family is 'the subject of possession' but can see how some might think this (e.g. the farm for farmer's families). I haven't thought much about spouses... I certainly should.
