Georgian food is starting to make inroads - Iberia in Pimlico is very good; Kartuli in East Dulwich is even better (but a total pain in the ass to get to from most of the city)

So: Kriket (with the proviso that I had dinner at the Brixton location and it was one of the best meals I've ever had, and lunch at the Soho one which was only just ok) Ginza St James (with the warning I did not see the bill when I ate there but was under the impression it was Not Small)

(actually I just had a quick look and ughh it's a lot more expensive than I remember. But there are a cluster of hotels around Bankside - a Premier Inn, an Ibis, a Mercure, etc - and it's a fantastic location.)

Lived here for a decade. It definitely errs on the side of "too much fun"

Otherwise: the Windmill Clapham. More characterful, less central, but Clapham/Abbeville Village/Brixton have tons of good restaurants and you're ~10 minutes walk from the Northern Line.

CitizenM Bankside. Rooms are small but swanky. Bar downstairs is excellent. The Table next door does an A+ breakfast and you're right next to the Tate Modern.

I'll never forget seeing the guy in our building who owned a Lamborghini Aventador peeling out the front gate and then having to haul on the brakes 150 yards up the street because otherwise he'd lose his police escort in their Hilux, without whom he'd have been carjacked. Luxury!

... And we lost power multiple times a day, you had to watch your kids in the bath like a hawk because the bath water would make them sick if they swallowed some, and the roads outside turned into rivers when it rained, and were horrifically congested even in good weather.

Yes exactly. What they don't realize is that when you mortgage a country's governance it does actually start impacting you no matter how much money you have. We lived in Nigeria for a while, and because my wife's job was an expat contract we lived in literally the Park Lane of Lagos monopoly...

Kinda shocked at how limited the 7-seater EV options are in the US market, especially below the six-digit price point. Here in the UK car choice in general is much better but 7-seater choice is far worse...
