First ren faire visit of the year in the books! My spouse and I had a great time at the Michigan Renaissance Festival yesterday. It had been a few years since we wore the original garb that my spouse bought for my bday in '10. It was great to bring it out again and play make believe in the woods!
We are back on campus at Ohio Northern University for a week of meetings before classes begin next week. I took a break yesterday for a walk, and it was so beautiful. Nothing but sky, trees, water, the sounds of the wind and the birds, and in the distance, the joyful voices of young people.
This is both sad and sweet. Look at that little tabby, so happy to be saved, but also still alarmed.
It was! We got lucky, there had been a lot of smoke, but we had rain and some wind that cleared the air.

My dad and I kept the annual family tradition of hiking Quartzite Mountain. My mom was with us in spirit. And it was my dad's dog's first hike. She was such a good girl! She didn't chase deer and only pooped on the trail once! (Don't worry, we cleaned it up).
