I don't put that past agro-industrialists. But, I have had more experience with spoiled food from in-store shopping since COVID than before, and we know there has been a marked shift in how people shop (if at all) and eat, which the supply chains haven't sorted.

Alt, older lots of product are cheaper, and your local may be cutting corners.

Old product gets sold first, so what you are looking for is a demand change that leaves carrots for supermarkets sitting longer. I would look to how delivery vs in-store is affecting the retail demand profile.

This was an intense trip. It was all hiking, carrying everything, roping food up the trees for bear safety. And we had filters for our water, I had just forgotten in the moment, and didn't think much of it. Dear reader, I would think much of it later. 😭
