What I particularly enjoyed about Quixote when reading it are the different reactions of the people around him. There's some who just brush him off, others who join in on the fantasy because it's funny, others who try to use the fantasy to help... and then there's Those Fuckers at the end.
ok Don Quixote is WAY undersold. you hear "first modern novel" and it's like "uh-huh" but this is an unhinged man, a true monty python character, going around in cardboard knight cosplay "armor" doing a LARP he thinks is real, anyone who can do do more than stare is going "please leave sir"
