DEATH TO TRAFFICATION. DEATH TO HIGHWAYS. DEATH TO THE RIVERS OF ASPHALT AND CONCRETE THAT SCAR THE LAND.
Pumas are unlikely to recolonize much of their historical range in the eastern U.S., a new study finds. It’s not a lack of habitat or food keeping out pumas, also known as cougars or mountain lions. It’s the highways:

If pumas could get off their phones and stop texting all the time it would be safer for them to cross the road 😊
ALT: a cartoon of a cat holding a cell phone with the words check it out written above it
Or just build roads and rail that allow animals to cross them without getting hit? Because roads and rail aren't going anywhere.
the IRONY of the "save the Florida panthers" license plate tbh
A large part of their range in Texas lies along the border with Mexico. Likewise, a large part of their range in northern Mexico lies along the border w/ TX. As it turns out, mountain lions don’t recognize international boundaries. They’d be another casualty of that wall.
Let the pretty kitties have there land back!!!
Have you read Crossings by Ben Goldfarb? It’s a fascinating look at Americans road addiction and how that impacts wildlife.
20 years ago, you might see a cougar once or twice a year where I live. I haven't seen one since 2008 when I came around a bend and almost hit one. Even though I live in a very rural area, its entirely possible that the highways they put through the mountains here, pushed them out entirely.
highways are bullshit I've been on hundreds and not gotten high once
