Participated in my first mushrooming activity this past weekend (très late 40s, I know) which brought up a question about forager adaptations I've had before: what is it about mushrooms in English that sometimes makes them worthy of "hunting" as opposed to just "picking" or "collecting"?

I mean, I know they're not plants... but it's the same question I've had about "collecting" vs. "hunting" shellfish, say.
