The same people who said Congress shouldn't deal with the insurrection b/c it should be up to the courts now say it shouldn't be up to the courts because the voters should choose, & if Republicans refuse to listen to the voters, they will say it should be up to the courts again.
see: Ohio's new Constitutional referendum on Abortion Rights. The exact same blueprint of action. Only insert the "dealt with on the State level" mode.
"Regardless of the vote, just give us permanent control of the government and nobody gets hurt. Well apart from the people that will be hurt due to our spiteful policies."
If we really want the voters to choose, then let’s go with the popular vote, eh? I’m sure everyone is on board with this.
As a reminder, these are the same people that asked Republican state legislatures to commit their EC votes to Trump despite Biden getting more votes in those states. Their "voters should decide" virtue theater is laughably disingenuous. The GOP has elevated the "bad faith argument" to an art form.
Of course, the voters chose Obama to fill Scalia’s seat… 🤷🏻♂️
Voters have decided. Biden got more votes than DJT, but he couldn’t handle being beaten, so he fomented an insurrection. Also note, Clinton got more votes than him?
It's been their only play since at least 2000, and it works more often than it doesn't.
Last time we left it up to the voters, they didn’t like the outcome and started an insurrection over it. That’s why they’re now dealing with courts.
"Regardless of the vote, just give us permanent control of the government and nobody gets hurt. Well apart from the people that will be hurt due to our spiteful policies."
It's a classic case of shifting arguments to fit the narrative, showcasing the art of political maneuvering.
