midwesterners love having catchphrases. in the winter we say “it’s only cold because of the wind” and in the summer “we really needed this rain”. we’re like wise sages

It’s pouring in Chicago and we are in the middle of a statewide drought. I’ve been a dad for 3 years and today was the first time I found myself actively having to restrain myself from saying we needed this.
