Ellie and I are looking for these bs statistics but all we see are chuds that think one breed of dogs is evil and scary. which is bonkers.
God, I hate people who do the “dangerous pit bull” thing. It’s not backed up by data, anecdotal or (good) scientific, people don’t even agree on what counts as a “pit bull type!” You’re more likely to be attacked by a golden retriever, which *is* backed up by data, and I love them too.
I like to do this one - I ask people which of my two dogs is more pit bull, and it blows their minds when I say the small brown and white one on the right is half pit bull, the black and white one is like barely 20% lol
I’d rather deal with a pit bull than the “shit bulls are all evil violent dogs” brigade any day. The dog will just annoy me by begging for attention and pets, at least.
dog statistics by breed are pretty much impossible to find except for breeds that are almost entirely show dogs; the AKC is like the only source, and most people don't register with them. And it's not a random sample either
It was the data from that groundbreaking study conducted online by E. Beans et al. My vicious half-pit read it and was unimpressed.
My anecdotal experience is that pitties are giant babies who are happy to go along with whatever if it means snacks and cuddles
