It turns out that playwright is built more for interactions (and I was impressed is uses accessibility tooling to make it work). Instead, I ultimately fell back on pytest, requests, and parsel (which appears to be the modern BeautifulSoup?) to assert there were no latex errors in the notes.
Shush. Writing playwright tests at 10:43pm for your notes is a very reasonable thing to be doing.
