FWIW, California's Public Utilities Commission adopted new rules expressly to address this situation. They pay less money for solar that goes into the grid, and there's a monthly fixed fee based on income. calmatters.org/housing/2024...
California electricity rates will shift to a fixed fee starting in 2025. Most Californians wonât see much change, or will have a lower bill.
I think a lot of us would like to see the US govt dramatically up investments to make cars + freight + mass transit + bike/ped travel more affordable, available, and green. Until then, I'll sell EVs for $70-100k to fund R&D of tech so the next gen of EVs can be 40% cheaper & have 50% less battery.
