Admittedly it might have been nicer to see it when I wasn't about to cross the canal, while biking the younger kid to school. But for an infrastructure fan, hard to think of a cooler way to get delayed.

For such a small waterway, the Gowanus has an impressive array of drawbridges. www.nyc.gov/html/dot/htm... Also, fun fact, the need to fit this drawbridge underneath it is the reason the Smith and 9th stop is the highest station in the subway system.
