I remember reading the Civil Defence manual around that time. It had gems like "we expect to get 3 days notice of nuclear hostilities", which made me wonder about the capabilities of the Irish spy network. As I got older, of course, I realised that people just straight up tell folks this stuff 😀

I've also retained the importance of having iron nails and a supply of vinegar, for iron supplements. (I dunno, I was young 😛)
