Update this afternoon from NOAA / NCEI about the NCEI-NC Asheville Data Center and the employees there.

RE: the Status of NCEI Employees, Operations in Asheville, N.C.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, NOAA employees and their families in Asheville, N.C., are dealing with the devastation of a catastrophic weather event that has impacted the region.  

The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) has recently confirmed that all of its employees and staff have been accounted for, however many are still without power, water or connectivity.

The NCEI Federal building in downtown Asheville has electricity, but not water, and the building will not be inhabited fully until that is resolved. The data center is currently shut down. NOAA NCEIā€™s network service provider is also currently down and at this point we do not have a timeline for when it will be fully operational. We will provide an update when more information is available. 

Our thoughts are with the people across western North Carolina and all of those who will deal with disruptions in...
