Why you should alt text your textwalls, even if someone else can do it in a reply later, quoting myself before I get blocked.
Seriously. It's SO EASY to C&P the text right after grabbing the screen. A million times easier than typing it all out.
Also, this one was paywalled, so people who decided to repost it (and I was one of them) didn't have the option to copy-paste and just had to type. This is irritating, and while some things are interesting enough for me to find it worth doing, I'd rather not have to!
Reading up the thread, lotsofquestions got a block from me for being an insufferable, condescending jackass.
Honestly text walls are the easiest thing to alt text. Just text in general. Copy paste. Or just literally type out what's right there on the screen if its something shorter.
My phone can literally copy and paste the text from screenshots. I do double check, but it saves time.
Question: I saw someone with text too long put the continued text in the alt text of blank images labeled “alt text continued,” presumably because you can fit more text than in a post. Does this work for blind folks?
I am annoyed by useless/no alt text on images, but textwalls without it are so much worse because the fix is so EASY. It's not like you don't know what it should say, it's words.
Seriously, like if you have the time to trim a screengrab you have time to copy and paste the text into the alt.
