I think it would be equally accurate to say that "intersex" people have always existed and were occasionally publicly discussed in English-language fiction and non-fiction. The concept of trans-pride is new (and welcomed by me). It makes "right wing tool bags" deeply uncomfortable.
They offer nothing of value. Offering up groups and individuals to fear, hate, and control is all they have.
