It’s called “fog of war” for a reason. Uncertainty drives the rumor mill. Online sensemaking during crisis events and conflict is extremely vulnerable to manipulation. The clout chasers, political point scorers, and disinformation agents are all out in full force. Consume (and share) with care.
💯 I worded it almost exactly the same way in a fediverse post -- "There's a reason they call it "the fog of war""
Trust, but verify. Trust that someone is telling the truth, but verify their claim. If you can't verify it to be 100% true, don't spread that information. This is the strategy I personally use to attempt to combat misinformation, courtesy of Pirate Software.
War and social media are toxic mix.
John Bolton is on CNN demanding we go to war with Iran. Quickly, while there's still fog. bsky.app/profile/kate...
Hell of a lot foggier with the news gutted and social media's trust destroyed.
No joke ..
War, yum! Want some?
There is no fog, it is very clear: “Diplomatic buildings are entitled to broad protections from attack or other interference by the host country under international customary law, codified in the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Convention on Consular Relations"
Didn't that shamefully only once dead cunt of a coffin stuffer Kissinger coin the term?
Fog of War is BS. Totally. Sorry.
