“You trust me? Maybe I trust you!” The taming crate is in my bedroom at night.
Oh, also. We’re wandering into territory that raises vet eyebrows. 😉 I usually let scared feral kittens see me fall asleep. I’ve seen skittish cats become besties with people who sleep on my couch. My theory is that falling asleep is one of the least threatening things you can do to a cat.
I usually seem to catch mine at 3 or 4. But it depends, maybe I’m not using the good stuff. 🤣 (If they’re long-term colony residents, they sometimes prefer their regular kibble. But tuna, yeah. You might have to experiment as to whether he’s seeking comfort or whether THE POWER OF TUNA COMPELS HIM)
cmpriest (decided maybe she didn’t want to be tagged) has a tripawed. They do surprisingly well but he would be better off indoors. youtu.be/E8s9mIn1ycE?...

Second the dog crate. I use one to tame feral kittens. I put it in the living room and let them watch the complete and utter lack of bad things happening to kitties for a while. It helps.
Oh poor baby! Thank you for helping him!
Final opinion on house: smells terrifying, has unexplained noises, CONTAINS ELDRITCH GIANT. But the food is AMAZING.
I think the tortie mama in particular is beautiful but she does NOT want to live with me. Houses are scary, and I am the Foodbringer so I am terrifying but probably benevolent, an eldritch giant that provides gifts for unknown reasons. Kittens can learn to like houses. She never will, alas.
Yeah, I kept my last two mamas for a week after their spays. They were NOT happy about this! I, er, did let them out in their bathroom (see above re: they knew me, DO NOT RECOMMEND) and gave them carriers to hide in. To release, I shut the carrier doors for the first time and carried them out.
Oh, and… when I say feral colony… this is my porch. (That mama is now spayed and the kittens were abducted and tamed.) For generations, mamas have weaned their kittens by pointing out that food dish. They are probably less ferocious than the average feral.
