Petition to add a "NFM" code on book reviews to help readers and authors. I.e. Decline to review, with comment "not for me (NFM)" Reviews are for the reader, but they do disproportionally impact new marginalized authors. NFM reviews could work for readers and reduce that impact
Being an author means that, at some point, a twinkly-eyed bookstore shopkeeper said to you: "Now, you come back here to sign books when YOU'RE the published author" And then one day you go back and tell your story, and they awkwardly say "Um, that's nice." But, you're still an author!
I found out my first book has been removed from an entire county district in Florida. To say I am heartbroken is an understatement. This is erasure and it's not even of me or my book, but ALL the kids who identify as the characters they find so abhorrent that they can't even exist in fiction. 💔💔
