Local publisher that I otherwise respect has started using generative AI for book covers. At first just for a tiny and brand new imprint, but recently for one of their major releases. Apart from anything else, it looks *terrible*. The "send him back to South Africa" rhetoric bugs me, because he is so much more a product of the USA. Like, he's undoubtedly been influenced by growing up in apartheid SA, but he wants nothing to do with the modern country.
