This particular server seems very friendly for new people (as well as people who have been on there for a while). There was a learning curve with how to use the bot commands to roll and the server rules, but everyone is really friendly and helpful.
I have found a play-by-post server for D&D and it’s a town; there are channels for different shops and locations. There are adventures, too, but there is so much more roleplay outside of combat & I LOVE IT! It’s like being a character in a fantasy story that I get to help write. 🤩
