"Democratizing comics with AI" Buddy literally no one is stopping you from making comics but yourself. Allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to make something without the fear of failure. Your ability to make art is inherent to your human soul

Why not "democratize" the money instead of AI so people can do art instead of boring and repetitive jobs? If you say this, rich people and right-wingers frame you as "communist" with a complete lack of reason. They treat money as a god instead of a way for exchanging things.

Too true. It’s funny how using ai does the opposite of that. Prompters are ultimately not producing themselves anymore. Shredding their own voice and heart for the sake of convenience. And than expect to be rewarded the same way.

Maybe this is my art history brain, but generally, in the past, when professionals talked about democratizing a medium, they meant making *learning* affordable if not free for as many ppl as possible. The idea was folks deserved to express something deeply human about themselves & their experiences

I love how this helped me realize and consider that works of art are emblems of risk and vulnerability and enjoy a postnatal life of provocation and redefinition.

When I was a kid, I made a little comic called HammerMan and NailBoy. It was pretty awful, but I learned why it was awful and today I'm.. well I'm a software developer, but I did learn a few things about drawing and actually expressing myself. AI could never have taught me that.

The creation of art can't be "democratized." Children make art. It's easy, pick up a pencil or a paintbrush or some clay or whatever. They aren't trying to "democratize" the distribution of art. The internet already sort of did that. Then social media companies put their roadblocks into that process

"Democratizing" is second only to "hallucination" in the ranking of most meaningless AI buzzwords

Alternatively: the many gatekeepers in trad comics are economic, gendered, creepers in various well documented fuckarounds. None of them are solved by *drawing less*

Saw something on r/comics where a mod went off on a AI protest style comic, basically encouraging to have a no ai policy... going off about how Art is only PART of comics and writing matters as much if not more... I can't even explain how angry it made me lmao

I can attest how not doing creative things can mess you up emotionally. I still struggle with the whole, "they're gonna make fun of you," or "no one will care," or worst of all the, "too old, too late," negative self talk.
