Absolutely, utterly agree. Plus it devalues the actual, scientific AI work that's been quietly going on for decades. On the art side, I like how "plagiarism machines" is become a more common term. For LLMs like ChatGPT, maybe "bullshitting machines" might be a better term than AI.

I'm honestly kind of... not opposed but I'm not sure if the terminology is helpful (at least in a socio-political sense) just because if we're to get legislative pressure here, I think there has to be an acknowledgement and accuracy to laypeople about the technology and its potential harm
