The House has overwhelmingly voted to condemn antisemitism — but the point of the bill is almost certainly the language saying the House “clearly and firmly states that anti-Zionism is antisemitism,” which will be used to justify suppression of a wide range of speech.

If I had to guess where this is going, next they will push to axe federal funding to any university that holds views which are antisemitic-by-this-definition or insufficiently critical of student or faculty groups who do.

Imagine if antisemitism was replaced with antiLGBTQ or anti any other community. Would that be woke?

To your third point - what’s the % increase in anti-semitism if you define out criticism of Israel? What if you exclude From the River to Sea as a statement for Palestinian liberation not for destruction? What if you don’t include anti-Zionism at all? What happens separating state from. Religion?

Theoretically this just affects the conduct of the House itself, which, is there a betting pool over how long it takes Johnson to file a motion to expel everyone who voted against it because "antisemitism?"

/2 The Republicans who proposed the bill anticipated and intended that the language condemning anti-Zionism would cause a rift among Democrats. That was part of the purpose, along with the larger purpose of constructing a rationale to suppress any speech about Israel they don’t like.
