I was already sold on getting a Fairphone when my current device carks it, but it is so nice that they contribute to climate causes without claiming that doing so undoes or cancels out their own emissions :) shop.fairphone.com/fairphone-5
Writing this on a FP5. I look forward to using it for the next 5 years. Every previous android phone has eventually succumbed to terrible battery health or an unusable charge port, both of which are user replaceable. It's not a perfect phone but it's no worse to use than a generic midrange.
It certainly seems key to get a device that will have a long period of software support. I've managed to keep a MacBook Pro from 2011 going, but now reaching the stage that the software just wont update (and so browsers/websites/apps impacted), and I'm not tech savvy enough to get around it.
Thanks for this. I hadn't heard of this phone before. Doesn't look like it's available here though (yet?).
A bit suspect to claim burning of waste methane is zero emissions, or worse reported here as "negative" emissions (!!) - but still, only a small proportion of most of their GHGs, which relates to manufacturing, transport etc www.fairphone.com/wp-content/u...
