This is a man who won’t let most people in, so because he noped out of our romantic relationship when we got too close for his comfort, he’s kinda stuck with me. Lol I’m probably the closest thing he has to family these days.

My BFF (the very stereotypical grumpy stoner GenXer lol) has really bad heartburn and I kept trying to get him to go see a gastro until I gave up about a year ago. He’s a big boy, he can make his own decisions. Just hope he doesn’t end up with a bleeding ulcer, himself
Just took a bottle of wine and a pint of ice cream into the living room to watch Rings of Power. Having a totally normal one over here.
I hear, smell, and see things my ND af family don’t. I’ve always been the family canary in the coal mine. Sky’s sick and smelling weird things? Gtfo. Sky hears weird high-pitched sounds? Something needs to be fixed. Sky sees a slight flicker? Power is about to go out.
Sometimes I think I was the only one in my family cursed with AuDHD, the others seem to be one or the other. ADHD Mom: “Why did you turn off the kitchen lights?” Me: “Because they were loud.” Autistic sister: “Literally or figuratively?” Me: “Yes.” Mom: “Shit, those lights are about to go out.”
It’s so hard. Which is why I never blamed my parents, but I did have to hash it out with them after my diagnoses and we realized all my burnout was from going undiagnosed for so long, as well as carrying so much expectation on my back.
Clean version: Therapist: “What are you going to do to process these new, intense emotions?” Me: “Help my friend with her emotional crisis to forget my own.” Therapist: “No.”
