I knew a woman from Sudan who fled to Kenya and then here. She was my student. I’ve talked to a lot of war refugees and hers was the worst story by far. She was 12 when her village was burned down and parents killed in front of her. She was sold to an older man and I’ll let you imagine the rest.

Several of my father's carers followed a similar path. Their flight & the fact that its circumstance was horrific was all they shared, but it was enough.
