Wouldn’t reducing inequality help though? The US has among the highest gini coefficients in the OECD, and I suspect that a lot of our weird class stuff stems from the fragility of our class positions. Take that away and maybe we get less weird about it.

Reducing inequality would definitely help, but class division is baked into US culture, politics & society in the most fundamental ways.
