One of the most beautiful fall things I ever saw was on a mountain hiking trail in Colorado that was surrounded by aspens and their leaves had fallen all over the path and highlighted it gold. Can't tell if those are aspens, but they look similar if they're not.

Similar but not. These are Gingko. They’re a pretty common SF tree. Mostly all males. The females fruit and it is not a pretty smell.
