never really thought much about the adoption period in these scenarios because most of the framings presumes it’s been navigated without mentioning it and the robots are weirdly cute or empathetic but now I’m pretty certain this is an impossible barrier

We love our robot vacuums, they have names and are part of the family. We would burn Rosey from the Jetson in our backyard within 24 hours.

like, yeah, we sadly kill each other in a trillion different wretched ways but at the core of the human thread is some idea that doing it is just wrong even if you want to and a humanoid robot jumps out all that hardwired instinct and gives you a permission slip to do all the murders but for free
