I deeply appreciate it when writers include trigger warnings in their books. I don't, however, appreciate the people who make a big fuss over their existence. If you don't like them, just skip them. Just because you don't need trigger warnings doesn't mean other readers don't!

I do have a question I've been trying to work out writing something (not a book but still) which is how to create effective trigger warnings while spoiling as little as possible. For ex: a foreshadowed past traumatic event slightly given away by "CW: death of a family member" if that makes sense.

What's more annoying is when schools ban books that contain LGBTQ+ material. My high school did this to a few books and the high schoolers including myself were outraged about it.

It seems pretty easy to just make this a convention, in the same way the copyright information or author’s previous works are usually found in the same place in each book. Easily skipped for people who don’t want them, there for people who do 🤷

I always include them in my Horror works. Why? It is rather respectful to make sure you do not endanger people who have issues they struggle with. I see it as important rather.

i feel like the same people to complain about trigger warnings are also gonna be the ones who hold up a cross and get all puritan when a text gets even remotely dark or sensitive
