Monster hunter should have really taken notes from EDF. keep the system that works because even if you don't have a budget and/or it doesn't sell well your not loosing much, they tried iron rain and it flopped so they went straight back and touched up what already worked.

EDF takes the exact same engine and adds a new coat of paint, tweaks some things here and there and adds new things to shoot. Frontiers could have been the branch that kept the OG series going but for one reason or another just kinda whithered away. at the very least fans are keeping it alive.

World got really lucky and roped in a new generation of players and now they have no incentive to go back. at the very least GU left us with 90% of the series content but unfortunately lacking most of the cool endgame elder dragons. now the modern games will give you a MHtri level roster till DLC.
