Two possible reasons why: 1. Games that are made by certain companies opt to release compilations for sale instead: Castlevania, Contra & Mega Man are examples of this 2. Licensing issues, typically applies to sports games, games based on movies/tv shows, or developers not interested in sharing

There is certainly a point to it, and it really depends on the communication and play group prior to the game being played. A lot of times that will certainly help make the game more enjoyable.
What's stopping you then?? The card sells for less than $1 each
